It seems i am experiencing the planetary picture quite directly of late as i cannot easily get anything to completion! I have learned the hard way that it’s better to adapt to what is happening than to try to twist myself into satisfying external expectations. This may simply come with the years or it is also possible that my stubborn Taurus nature has actually learned a valuable lesson.
To that end I offer you half an article regarding the themes of 2016. I think that it really only speaks to the time up to September 10th when Jupiter will be leaving Virgo and Saturn will be done with the exact square to Neptune.
The missing half is the actual dates of the events of 2016 that seem noteworthy. The players are Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and Mars with an eclipse or two for good measure.
I hope to post that part soon. In any case here is part one of
2016 – The Year
The energies that predominate this year are in the mutable signs at least until Jupiter leaves Virgo and enters Libra on September 9th. The tension will come from Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo. Gemini is conspicuously absent.
Simply put: Sagittarius is vision at the high end and opinions or dogma at the low end. Pisces is compassion at its best and victimization or victim-hood at its worst. Virgo at its best is the awareness that everything in the manifest world is sacred and that human beings are part of the Great Round. At its worst Virgo is critical and picks things apart without respect for the whole. It forgets that we are more than the sum of our parts and therefore it can be relentless and soulless in its seeming practicality. The absence of Gemini suggests that the missing ingredient, when there is one, will be lack of perspective on account of missing or incorrect information.
There is a restlessness to mutable signs. They are always adapting and adjusting to the world around them. On the down side there is fear of being overwhelmed by a world with too many parts to process or even comprehend. Chaos seems to rise to meet us at every event. But what seems like chaos often looks like change in hindsight. The potential in this shapeshifting world is found when we do not hold too tightly to our usual way of doing things but rather dive in and develop the ears to hear and the eyes to see what is going on right here and right now without losing our center. The image of staying at the center of a turning wheel is useful.
Sagittarius and Pisces are signs that benefit from the notion of faith; not the blind or fundamentalist kind. More like faith in the simple truth that we are here, in this situation, at this time so it must be what is required. Things are the way they are and to trust that allows us to participate fully in the adaptations that are required for life to be as good as possible. Sagittarius understand the wisdom of this, Pisces wants the good for all beings and Virgo rolls up her sleeves and goes to work. Conversely Sagittarius aims so high it loses touch with reality and pontificates at every turn; Pisces gets so horrified by the impossibility of things it longs only to escape and Virgo panics. These will be the choices we make this year over and over.
People with a strong mutable influence in their charts (planets or points in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces) will need to pay extra attention to these things.
In our lives as individuals it means that we benefit when we pay attention to the details; when we reach for the people who might slip through the cracks. (Maybe not just the people.) When we question our beliefs and assumptions (Sagittarius), when we are compassionate (Pisces) and when we show up with an interest in being helpful, rather than critical (Virgo).
In the world at large it’s a bit more unwieldy. I am heartened by Trudeau’s inclination to consult with people, to listen to experts and to seek to redress long-standing injustices. He is a Virgo rising and possibly has an instinct that leans into what these mutable signs are calling for this year.
The US election is another story at least until they choose a leader for the next four years. By the time their election happens Jupiter will be in Libra which gives me some hope that they might in fact elect someone who knows how to guide in a time of such intense change. Jupiter in Libra suggests there is a chance for that! But it also activates the cardinal cross of 2014 so at the moment, until we have candidates and their charts, it’s a hard call.
