Sun enters Scorpio 08:13 PM
Every year, like cosmic clockwork, the Sun enters Scorpio. Here in the Tropic of Cancer we are really aware of night falling earlier, naked trees and a moist gray chill to the air. But no two years are alike. Scorpio is the same and yet different. This of course is the nature of Scorpio. The river of feeling underneath everything is always changing. We need perception as well as the courage to sit with what is, to do Scorpio right.
This year, what is truly different about Scorpio is that Saturn is there too. Here is an excerpt from an email exchange between myself and a Scorpio concerned about Saturn in Scorpio.
“My concerns began recently after I had read a few different astrologers’ views on Saturn in Scorpio, which worried me somewhat. There seems to be differing views on this, but many astrologers suggest that Saturn in Scorpio is likely to be a difficult time? Some call Saturn in Scorpio an unwelcome guest! Must Saturn in Scorpio be a time of self-control, restriction, austerity, or reduced opportunity? … What I really need now is STABILITY, and to FINALLY make some progress – not to experience more struggle, inner-refection and restriction! So Saturn in Scorpio sounds just a little daunting…”
Here is my response:
‘I think that astrologers, like many people, tend toward the negative when they ‘predict’. And many see Saturn as an unwelcome guest no matter where it is. Unfortunately bad news is more compelling than good news or even neutral. Truth is, Saturn is always somewhere and it is about defining situations not necessarily raining on the parade. (Although sometimes one man’s good is another man’s bad.) It doesn’t reduce opportunity it defines what can and can’t be accomplished. We live in a world that doesn’t like the limits of reality. Hence, Saturn’s bad rep.
If what you need is stability, and you are willing to do the work Saturn will offer real possibilities. Not inflated and not without consequence i.e. you get what you pay for. It will help Scorpio to define what is real and what is not. If your (goals are) pipe dreams you’ll know it but on the other hand if it’s what you are truly called to do, that will come in to focus as well. Double it if it’s your Saturn return. Just don’t expect something for nothing. Saturn hates that!”

I wonder what it’s like to breathe under water. We dream of flying but how many of us dream of flying through water the way fish do? Today is for dreams: Both kinds.

If you feel a road block in your path, shift gears to a deeper level; to the road underneath the road. Movement below the surface or within the guts will remove obstacles more effectively than effort in the manifest world.

If you have no sense of humor today could be a rough ride. Humor is not about sarcasm or teasing – not now – not ever. It’s just that taking truth too seriously leads to dogma. Dogma instantly creates an us/them mentality. Not what the world needs now. Venus arrives in her own sign. Reminding us that only beauty can save the world.

All assumptions are delusional. The world is permanently impermanent. Change is the only constant. On account of that life is a riddle never fully solved. You can’t really just think about it. You get it (sometimes) and you don’t (sometimes).
The Full Moon shines her spotlight where the hurt is. Let go the heaviness in the heart when you let go the wave and become the ocean.

Look for opportunities to dig deep into any and all issues that come your way, be it a favorite recipe or your soul’s purpose.
Tomorrow is the day of the dead: A time to remember and honor our ancestors; close and distant. We may dress up like them or eat their favorite foods. It bothers me that so many people decorate their homes for Halloween with yellow scene-of-the-crime tape. We all die. Everyone we love will die. Most of us, however, are not murdered! In any case, we might as well celebrate as best we know how!

There is a revolution going on all over the world. No one can keep up with it. It’s a one-day-at-a-time thing. Accept the challenge, should it present itself to you, to question your values. this is not the same as judging them. It’s not right or wrong. it’s about change. The old world which we think we live in is already gone. Our choices need to reflect that.

Having questioned your values now it’s time to transform your world. If this confuses or distresses you remember that beauty and function should go together. Simplicity and elegance are often hand in hand. Changing values is not about compromising quality, although it might mean using less.

Stop dead in your tracks. Review all assumptions about life, self, god and the future. Prepare for a few weeks of this. Asking questions opens doors. Answers not required. For more information go here.

First it was a revolution in values (November 1st). Then it was a transformation of them (November 3rd). Now it’s time to have some fun with what you want and what you have. Some extravagance, a little generosity along with a playful intention goes a long way to lightening the load. It has been said, ‘angels fly because they take themselves lightly’!

For those of us lost in a dream, hallucinating our lives and not realizing it, we feel compelled to express all our longings. We believe and have faith in our right to have them fulfilled. For the lucid dreamers of the world; the ones who know they are dreaming but dream anyway; create your day. Invent the image, the dream, the metaphor that can carry you through the portal to the place of ultimate truth – if only for an instant.

Resolve to listen to your feelings for at least the next two weeks and let them show you who you are inside; where only you can be.
Beware the con. Remember the old adage: ‘If it seems too good to be true, it probably is’.

Be wary and don’t believe everything you hear. Even things you hear inside your own head. Check that what you hear resonates with what you feel. Especially till the 17th when Mercury conjuncts the Sun.
Mars enters Capricorn
Mars is everybody’s worst enemy when he plays the bully, the aggressor, the killer. But Mars is also about vitality, action, energy and breakthroughs. We like him then. In Capricorn he favors earthy pursuits. Building things, making money, success. He supports Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn to act positively and do their best. He offers struggle to Aries and Libra and a challenge to Cancer. For Scorpio and Pisces there is opportunity. For Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Aquarius, Mars in Capricorn is the stubbed toe, the missing keys; the constant reminder to be mindful. No matter whether Mars is positive or negative we couldn’t live without him and we all have the potential to use him in service to life rather than as an agent of unnecessary destruction and general bad behavior.

Stand strong in your gut level knowing. Let it motivate you to take action, to seek out opportunities to make your dreams come true. You don’t have to accomplish it all today but you could orient yourself toward right action for the future.
