Sun enters Libra: 3:51 AM EDT
Back when I was learning astrology people liked to point out that the roots of the words competition and cooperation are the same. It’s a beautiful Libran idea(l) to see it that way. Overall, the world seems to be cracking up, but it’s possible we, the collective, are evolving from competitive to co-operative ways of doing things. Evolving into the potential of our humanness. The ingrained tendency in the brain to fight over resources, which always seem inadequate, is giving way to a new and necessary habit, not simply to share but to truly acknowledge that what seems other is as alive as I am. It’s tough. We aren’t there yet. There is tremendous resistance but Libra does its best at its best, to take us there. to agree to disagree even as we lay down our weapons. I admit – we have a long way to go. There is a symbol in the heavens for this and its Libra. Libra is the only sign of the zodiac that is represented by a human made object; the Scales of Justice. This year Libra meets up with Saturn, Pluto, Jupiter, and Chiron, in major ways. On the days when it seem rough, remember to ‘stay human’ acknowledge the rights of all life forms. That’s just what they are: formations made of life. You, me and every living thing. It’s some kind of party and we all got invited.
Mercury sextile Jupiter (inconjunct Neptune)
Synchronicity reminds us that the universe is always talking to itself. But discernment is always necessary in deciding what to do with the messages. Just as with dream symbols there can be different interpretations. Life is three-D (at least), not a flat screen. If there is a gun on the wall in act one it does not have to be used later in act three, in our actual life.
Venus square Saturn
The oppression, suppression or just plain ignorance regarding beauty is a violation of the soul. If it’s not beautiful, it’s not truly functional. We have so much work to do on this front. Start small. What ugliness can you make more beautiful?
Mercury square Pluto,
Sun opposite Chiron
We fight hard to keep our institutions free of inherent bias regarding race and gender. We need to do this. The path of least resistance for humans at this time in history seems to be domination, control and hierarchical abuse of power. We teach it to our children as we were taught. The action we take to become aware shows in how we speak and our willingness to listen, discuss and debate where possible. This is how we learn and teach a different way.
(Venus inconjunct Neptune)
If you buy the viability of inconjuncts we could say that today offers a warning not to take things as they appear. It may look one way but murky feelings which lie below the surface make it hard to sort real from imagined. Things like this are always easier after a new moon which just happens to be tomorrow.
New Moon: 5 degrees of Libra 02:26 PM EDT
Venus sextile Jupiter
Let our intention for the New Moon be something akin to seeing one other as human and equally desiring and deserving of food, shelter and resource. Knowing we are all alive here, together at a time of unprecedented change, let us bend our intention toward that greatest of human accomplishments which might have something to do with awareness of our connection and kinship with all living things. Justice for all.
(Sun incojunct Chiron)
The teacher arrives. S/he has traveled through heavy rains and high winds. S/he has encountered things so terrifying as to awaken memories of past trauma. There is healing in witnessing the experience of another before offering solutions.
Venus square Pluto
Do you start the month by saying ‘white rabbits’? Today’s white rabbit has vanished down the rabbit hole and it seems we have a mission to follow. Like Alice we may drop through space into another, nether world. How will it change us? How will we let it?
Pluto stationery Direct
Mercury enters Scorpio
Subtle shifts toward darker days are underway. We feel it coming, the cold, dark season, but not yet. There is something special in the noticing. (If you live down under, of course you are shifting in the opposite direction, but still there is a sense of moving into a transformational moment.)
Mars enters Libra
Mars, planet of aggression and assertiveness, is not at its best in Libra, the sign opposite Aries, where it is most at home. On account of this we are reminded to be slower to argue and react. Consider the value of diplomacy (not politics) even if you aren’t on a mission.
(Mercury inconjunct Chiron)
Accidents happen and, like accidents, we often say the thing we wished we hadn’t. We cannot turn back time.
Mercury opposite Uranus
Sun square Saturn
Some obstructions come, not from specific roadblocks but from excruciating choices. Sometimes the door opens and too many people walk in. The question isn’t about, what to do. As the wise woman said, Don’t just do something. Sit there!
Venus enters Scorpio
Mars opposite Chiron
She doesn’t like the way she’s been treated over the last 10,000 years. #MeToo is the tip of the iceberg. In Scorpio we need to think deeper than justice. We need to dive to the core of desire and witness the ways and means of how we objectify the living world around and within ourselves. We need to be ruthlessly honest and infinitely tender. Venus and Mars in each other’s signs are not so happy. There is much to learn about the nature of desire this month. Is it the cause of suffering and/or the root of our values? How is it that aggression wrecks the fabric of our economic system? Make peace wisely, where you can and consider the connection between pleasure and value.
(Sun inconjunct Neptune)
Let the soul’s emanations show us beauty. It would be easy to miss it.
(Venus inconjunct Chiron)
We do not overcome depression or anxiety with the will alone. It takes time, faith, patience and a witness, or two.
(Mars inconjunct Uranus)
Venus opposite Uranus
Eruptions of greed and hostility are nothing new. Possibly we should stand in awe and offer a serenade and a drum roll to the mechanisms in our mind/brain that make it so hard to recognize the difference between a need and a want. It’s not easy, being human.
Full Moon: 20 degrees Aries: 05:08 PM EDT
Sun sextile Jupiter
We need optimism. We need realism. It’s a challenge to be hopeful in the face of encroaching chaos. What’s a person to do? At the Full Moon we witness things in the light of the night, a different light than we see in the day, softer and temporary. In a week we will forget what we see now unless what we see challenges us enough to turn our hopes and optimism toward some tangible effort. Opportunity is everywhere.
Mercury sextile Saturn
Sun square Pluto
There are times when we do not benefit from the journey of searching for one more piece of wisdom from an outside source. We actually know what we know. What is required or most effective is to dig down, right where we stand.
Mercury trine Neptune
What will you do with the clutch of possibilities, potential doors, waiting to be opened, that surround you? There are talents to be discovered. Let feeling be your guide. Close your eyes and see what you know. Still the analytical voice for a moment. Let the Great Mystery work through you.
Mercury sextile Pluto
The pearl of great price, the dragon’s hoard; these are generally found in the depths, the dark places, where we spend time but rarely choose to go. Sometimes we don’t even know we are there, so close to such great riches.
Venus sextile Saturn
Be like the raptor birds. Clean it to the bone. Every morsel matters.
Venus trine Neptune
Beauty and truth are not always pretty and don’t have to take center stage. What matters is that we know them when we see, feel or sense them.
