Sun in Gemini: 3:59 AM EDT
Mercury enters Gemini and conjuncts the Sun
It’s a journey. Even if we think we are going nowhere, even if we think we can stay the same, the world around us and within us is constantly changing. The landscape, our feelings, the people and the culture. Change is so fast, so furious as time marches on. Gemini is there. Magician or trickster, this sign calls us to be curious of the moment to moment realities of our shape-shifting world. Gemini, ruled by Mercury, is the symbolic representative of our mind. The secret embedded at the core of this sign is the mandate to master the mind, to truly understand the difference between thinking and awareness and to train our thoughts to bow to awareness. This year, as the Sun travels through Gemini it meets up with Jupiter and Neptune as they meet up with each other. Some astrologers are calling it the ‘meat grinder’ I prefer to think of it as the windstorm. A time when confusion is everywhere and the slippery slope could be that we find ourselves wanting to cry like a rainstorm, howl like the wind. We may experience even more confusion than usual exacerbated by opinions and judgments. For those who can open the mind to awareness it will be a month to not believe what you think, a time to stand at the center of the whirling wheel and breathe, one breath at a time. For the rest it will be a spin-dizzy time of easy mis-perceptions and some bitter communications. We can only approach one day or maybe one breath at a time, with kindness. If we sow the wind it is likely we will reap the whirlwind.
Mercury will be cazimi the sun today. Happens six times a year. Ancient astrologers imagined the Sun as king, the ultimate source of power. (Unfortunately they came to link this to masculinity. But that’s a story for another day…) When a planet sits at the heart of the Sun as Mercury does today it is said to be renewing its mission. The Sun imbues it with light and life. To have this meeting at the earliest degree of Gemini, symbol of mind itself, is indeed powerful. Imagine your mind sitting in the heart of the source of all life. This is strongest a little before and after 9:07 AM. Listen. Let s/he who has the ears to hear, hear.
Mars sextile Uranus
People don’t say much good about Mars in Cancer. Nobody likes a sucky, needy bully. But what if we step outside the stereotype and look more deeply into the archetype? What if Mars (action) in Cancer (nurturing) is about acting with the awareness of the feelings and the tenderness of ourselves and others? There are opportunities everywhere to reframe our conditioned response to that which we call masculinity, to link it to the notion of empathy, tenderness and inclusivity without losing the sense of strength and courage inherent in the symbolism of Mars.

Mercury square Neptune
The brain fog of too much information is like walking into an invisible spider’s web you just want to brush off your face but you can’t. Let the mind be what it is, moving through mist, knowing there is no answer, only more (and more) questions. Now would be a good time to unplug for a day or two.
Mercury opposite Jupiter
Venus sextile Neptune
We make choices – to ratchet up confusion by stirring up arguments and judgments or, to open our senses to the beauty and the preciousness of this very life on this very earth. Maybe it’s not an ‘either or’ situation. Maybe it’s more that in the midst of the swirling mass of ideas both superficial and significant, what keeps us from spinning out is that sense of presence that allows us to behold the brilliant orange in the carrot we are cutting up for our dinner. Go ahead. Be kind in the discussion and allow your senses to expand to meet the moment.
Venus trine Saturn
The earth is what it is. We each and every one, are her children. To carry our responsibility in this willingly is the noble task.
Venus trine Pluto
If you are digging a foundation, literal or metaphoric, dig deeper today. Push a little further into the task which will be a worthwhile effort.
New Moon: 13 degrees Gemini: 6:02 AM EDT
It’s not just any old New Moon (it never is). This one hooks the energy of Jupiter square Neptune. Choose your words with care. Ultimately we are each and all responsible for the energy we let loose in this world and we don’t want to align with those who manufacture chaos and confusion. Gemini is a trickster. Best to focus on the deceptions of your own mind, the way it drags you hither and yon, how hard it is to recognize when you’ve been carried off to the past or the future. Think of it as this month’s new moon as a game. The ‘how-aware-of-my-mind-can-I-be’ game.
Mercury enters Cancer
Mercury presides over all things Gemini, such as the recent New Moon. Our intention to play the thinking/awareness game might include some investigation. What do you imagine you have inherited from your ancestors?
Mercury sextile Uranus
Some revelations stop you in your tracks and are accompanied by blinding flashes. But today’s are more akin to the subtle lifting of veils: Not that noticeable at first but nonetheless, great opportunity for innovation and change.
Venus enters Gemini
Love is fickle. Art is enhanced by playful humor. May we all be like butterflies, pollenating the world, knowing the uniqueness of each flower as a part of the whole.
June 9 & 10
Sun square Neptune and opposite Jupiter
Did you ever have to make up your mind? Not right now. Better to float along the river and watch the clouds above, avoiding all judgments as they call to you from the banks of the river.
You can follow the waxing, waning and Astro signs of the Moon here.
Mars trine Neptune and opposite Saturn
All obstacles have gifts embedded in their existence. Sometimes we tell ourselves that the gift is the booby prize. But that is simply the mind’s favorite trick. Don’t distress yourself with the notion of making lemonade. Better to ask your heart where you can find the gold in the sludge, even as you know, you’ll be mucking around to extract it.
Mercury trine Neptune and oppose Saturn
Jupiter square Neptune
The pressure is on. The game of awareness continues even as the lofty goal of grace under pressure taunts us. Sometimes what we would like to call grace is just dis-connection, oblivion. And as we stumble, we grumble at ourselves for what we think is our inadequacy. The road is strewn with lies and broken promises like fallen branches after a great wind. Our lives feel precarious and for many the bottom has already dropped out We are not in need of ‘idiot compassion’ but we could always benefit from kindness.
Full Moon: 25 degrees Sagittarius: 04:31 AM EDT
Every full moon is about seeing, witnessing the world, as is. In Sagittarius we look at how the arrow flies where it has been directed and whether it has hit or missed the mark. Are we following the arrow of love or truth? Or might it be the truly unfortunate arrow of death, destruction and the damage of so many lies?
June 18 & 19
Saturn sextile Neptune
Mercury conjunct Mars
Mars opposite Pluto
These two days are a strong intersection of energies. Mercury and Mars are hell bent to put thought into action, but it is the kind of thought that is based on emotion. Pluto reminds us (we hope) that all actions come with consequences. Pure and simple. It most likely is a time when we are called to action. It’s important to do the work of calming the usual reactivity that comes with emotion before acting. Unless of course you are confronted with a burning building or a child in danger. Given the times we live in when it seems that the entire planet is pinned under a monster of greed and the chaos that comes from knowing something to be true yet feeling like nothing will change it, we are like people wanting to rescue the child pinned beneath. Let us be mindful as well as active as we continue to play the thinking/awareness game. High stakes.
