Standing at the open door of sunrise, we sense the year being born in secret. A stillness, vast and pure lives at the heart of every sound. This life is fraught with paradox. Each birth promises so much. What would you bring to the light from the sacred darkness? Where do you hear the silence and what sound emanates from it? What sound is born from the still place? Once the energy is born there is nothing for it but to have the adventure. Full tilt boogie.
Saturn enters Sagittarius
Big News! It’s only the very beginning of this journey: A stretch where we will be defining our beliefs and our visions. If you want to shoot arrows, you better know how and what you’re aiming for. Sagittarians who are willing to work hard will get a lot from this transit. Saturn is like the old crone at the crossroads: She who reminds us that all actions and choices have consequence, and that refusing to act or choose also has consequences. In Sagittarius she challenges us to define our beliefs, assumptions and truths.
For some it will be about legitimizing war as holy; the quest for truth through the use of weapons. The very first deadly weapon was a bow and arrow which allowed the archer to kill from afar. Saturn in Sagittarius is about the righteous made manifest. But it’s also about education which is the other wing of religion. Using our vision to understand not simply to have blind faith but rather illuminated faith; faith in something we understand. My greatest fear for this is about the young men (mostly) passionately convinced (once again) that they should give their bodies as weapons of war – even if their government does not send them (which is bad enough). My greatest hope is that we will improve our educational system throughout the world making it a universal right. It is a different, and ultimately more effective, kind of weapon against cruel and destructive forces.

Uranus and Pluto are still a squaring pair: A flash of lightening in the underworld. For many people on this planet these are days to celebrate the returning of the light: Holy days; days of tradition and family, both comforting and difficult. We wear deep grooves in the patterns of our lives at these times. At this moment it is easy for these very same patters to shatter, possibly to re-emerge in a mosaic with the same pieces in a different arrangement.

Open to the simple manifestation of what is – not what was or will be. Rooted in the present, we have access to the entire universe.

Today the secular, workaday world moves from 2014 – 2015. Collectively we feel the impulse to start anew. Open your heart to the outrageous expectations of the possible. It’s as if a knight in shining armor has arrived wanting only for you to open to his amazing powers, not to grant wishes so much as to show you what wishes you have.
Otherwise it could just be a day of excessive social activity.

All that was stirred up on December 24th and 25th reappears today. Wrestle with the Angel of Change even as you know the simple truth: This too shall pass.
Above all, love flourishes in an atmosphere of kindness.

There is no limit to learning. The Universe is generous that way. When we learn with good intention toward others it is possible that we learn more and better.
Be witness to what you/we have built, for good and ill. There can be harsh truth in what we see as well as a real desire to nourish what is starving in ourselves as well as in the world. Pay attention to the difference between feeding a craving and offering nourishment to the hungry.

All the things we study are like a finger, pointing to the moon of boundless learning. We have unlimited opportunity to seek and find the truth over and over in an infinity of shapes and sizes, philosophies and disciplines. Maybe there is one, true truth or maybe the whole idea is simply to keep learning.
Mars enters Pisces.
Diving where there is no bottom is both exhilarating and terrifying. Yet it is only when we dive into our feelings that we can know what we feel. This is not meant to be easy, in fact it can be a bit edgy and the secret is in knowing that just because we feel something, does not revoke our ability to choose what we will or won’t do with that feeling.

Think of all the different experiences of people happening at the same instant. Some are shivering in the cold; others are wet with rain. Some are dry and hot in the desert. Someone is hungry, another is deeply satisfied. Some slave in factories or toil on the land while others are perfecting their swing or serve. Some are being born and some are dying. I know you know this, just like I know it. So what? What is it?

Nothing is easy but all effort is worth making. Sometimes you get a reward or even an award. Other times you just build strength or develop skill. Think in terms of 10,000 hours.

Art: Create it, appreciate it, support it, and discuss it. We are told that it is essentially human to make art and yet all of creation seems to be a supreme work of art made by a supremely unknowable artist. A work of art cannot know its maker. Even as ‘A word will never be able to comprehend the voice that utters it.’
