Sun enters Gemini: 10:37 AM EDT
Gemini has been missing from the party over the last few months. Jupiter has been in Virgo, Neptune in Pisces and Saturn as well as Mars in Sagittarius. These are the mutable signs whose elements are earth, water and fire; the shapeshifters. Gemini, the air sign of this group, has been missing. Air is about perspective which helps us understand what is happening. Imagine a world with no air. Birds couldn’t fly, leaves wouldn’t flutter, heat would be unrelenting and we would suffocate. So welcome Gemini into the fray and open ourselves to its higher functions: the magician rather than its lower manifestation, the pick pocket.

Full Moon: 01 degree Sagittarius 5:15 PM EDT
Sun opposite Mars
Mercury stationery direct
Not just any old Full Moon. This one seems to be a meeting of magical and mystical. Anything could offer a challenge to our identity; the more identified, the more the challenge. This Moon shines her light along with Mars, stealing some of his brightness, even as the Sun illuminates them both, as happens in oppositions. Where is your treasure hidden? Who is guarding it or keeping you from it? We could say, astrologically speaking, that we have been on a journey of descent since April 17th when Mars went retrograde. We were meant to face our fears and seek for treasure. Now we are looking with intention at the artifacts we have unearthed. You are here; in this life, among these circumstances and in this condition. There is no other place to be. Whether you see blessings or curses isn’t the issue. It is your mystery, your pearl of great price. The task is to see what you see. No embellishments necessary. Most important; no blame. It’s like you are married to your life. For better and for worse. Divorce is not an option. You may see how it is, even as you see how it could be. But don’t be in a rush to change things. From now till June 29 is the return. In that time we are meant to reflect on the best way to act on what we see now. Right action is not always obvious. It isn’t necessarily what our instinct wants. The best action comes from reflection. The fear and anxiety that is running like a river in flood all around us should not be the thing that motivates our choices. Action from reflection, in all things, not just the big ones.
Venus opposite Mars
Venus enters Gemini
Maybe you know the story of the Trojan War. You could say the war started because of Venus and once that happened Mars showed up and fought it non-stop for 10 years. Ten years of death and destruction. Bodies everywhere and only the winners left to tell the tale. We make all sorts of little wars on account of desire. Destroying the world, one desire at a time. Today as Mars and Venus challenge each other, is an awesome day to make love, not war, keeping in mind that it is possible to love someone we don’t trust. Love can be like that. It is also possible to trust people we don’t love, we have to. Call it diplomacy. And then there is the erotic pull of betrayal.
Jupiter Square Saturn
We have been caught under the influence of this dance between two very strong characters for months now. The first square was in March when Saturn was stationery and this one, the last one, is exact today, close to the station of Jupiter. It won’t happen again until August 2024.
So far this combo seems to be an indication of aggravation for many people. Too much of something, even a good thing, restricted by not enough time or some rigid assumptions about the way things should be. Sometimes it appears that bureaucracy is the enemy of the soul. And the soul, ephemeral as it seems, is as necessary for life as the heart. So no matter what manner of aggravation you are experiencing do not let your peace be determined by your circumstances.
Mars retrograde re-enters Scorpio
This Mars retrograde period since at least April 17 or, if you add the shadow period, February 20th, has covered two signs: Scorpio and Sagittarius and now Scorpio again until August 2. Mars is right at home in Scorpio. But we have to work at ‘thinking above the belt’ to truly bring out its best potential. If you have been dancing or wrestling with Mars issues (identity, anger, shame, aggression, fear of making a stand) you may have seen or noticed something powerful and difficult about your life. The best choice has been to face it, deal with it and empower yourself with the truth of what you see. Mars’ basic nature is impulsive and arrogant. When retrograde it is meant to develop stature through restraint, strategic action and foregoing the joy of immediate reaction in favor of the gratification of responding, which generally requires time to figure itself out. Scorpio gets this. See what you can do.
Mercury trine Pluto
Earth angels are everywhere, doing their best to show us we can make this world. We are makers. So let us make something worth having.
Sun Square Neptune
Pay attention to that jittery feeling that natters along your nerves, suggesting over and over that the grass is greener over there and you could be happy if only you could just get this one thing right. There is no other life but yours you should or could be living: Right here, right now. But of course, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use your imagination whilst living it.
Venus square Neptune
Sun opposite Saturn
Venus opposite Saturn
Neptune and Saturn are having it out till September. Today Venus and the Sun are getting in on the act. The loosey-goosey longing for something; the constant craving, is aggravated severely by a sense that something is terribly wrong. And there actually is something wrong but not necessarily with you. There is a kind of trapped madness in this combination that could make a person sign up for a trip to outer space, eat a whole cake, take a bad drug or just leave it all in search of Rainbow’s End. Watch your step. Tie yourself to the mast. To find the strength to witness such a struggle without acting it out begets wisdom and eventually bliss.

As if it’s not enough that we are beset with itches we can’t scratch and impossible dreams, now we are frustrated with excessive red tape, or simply too much of nothing. We all need a secretary. And what we have instead is electronics. More and more of them. We consume them as if they were chocolate. Humans love toys. What matters most at the moment is to make sure your body isn’t left behind because you can’t unplug. We all know how that kind of thing creates stress and anxiety. And we all have tons of information about how bad that is.
If you’re looking for a new beginning or an intention to set, let it include the notion of integration. Avoid perfectionism. Life is process not product. At the end of a day we slip into another world where we process the things we did all that day. It only stops when we are gone.
Venus conjunct Sun
This aspect is more dramatic when Venus is retrograde but still it’s not nothing to have a planet exactly in the heart of our Sun: the light and heart of our solar system. We could think of it as Love (Venus) infused with spirit (Sun). Down here in the ‘below’ we honor this by allowing ourselves to receive deeply what has been given, even if it’s only for today. In Gemini it might be gratitude for our local environment, our siblings and cousins, and all the various ways we communicate.

What we think has value and is worth wanting is always threatened by the possibility and the inevitability of loss. Loss comes to us through tragedy, that’s true as well as predictable things such as old age, sickness and death. But loss also comes with ecstasy. When we lose our self in the other, be it a person or the Great Spirit that animates all things. In losing ourselves we are changed. “Loss is the great lesson” but it should not keep us from building, making, and investing in our world.

Mercury enters Gemini
Whatever the mind can imagine is possible. Among the truly unique gifts and treasures that make us human and confer the unique talents of a human, imagination is at the top of the list. We can use it to make or destroy our world.
Neptune stationery retrograde
Melusines and mermaids have always been part of our story: Magical beauties whose songs stir the soul and call men to drown if they are not careful: Like a song you can hear but you can’t sing. We are surrounded by so much mystery it can feel like a fog. We can’t always tell what’s magic and what isn’t. In some way all of creation is magic and you sitting here, reading this is the greatest magic of all. We live on a big round ball. What’s up for some is down for others even if we think we can explain it. It’s a paradox. The soul is enriched by paradox. Yours and mine.
Sun sextile Uranus
Tell the same story from a different perspective. See the same person from another angle; as if you were their mother or maybe their dog. Imagine.
Venus enters Cancer
Saturn square Neptune
Saturn in Sagittarius wants us to believe in something we can prove, something we can agree on, to cite chapter and verse. This could be about intellectual excellence or fanatical dogma.
Neptune in Pisces wants us to believe in the unknowable, the unprovable; the Great Felt Sense. This can be mystical revelation or fanatical frenzy and mass hallucination.
What pulls you apart like Orpheus, having failed at his great journey?
Mercury opposite Saturn, square Neptune
Full Moon: 29 degrees Sagittarius. 7:02 AM EDT
It is the last day and the first: The last day of Gemini and, later in the evening will be the first day of Cancer. The issues of Saturn and Neptune are played like strings on a guitar and the Moon becomes full before the actual moment of solstice. So I have put them at the end of Gemini Insights rather than the beginning of Cancer ones.
Full Moons light up the night. This is the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere of Earth. And tonight, though it may be short, will be well lit as well. We are inclined to sleep less and to peer, if possible, into the other world where the future is known and awareness is luminous. Remember Orpheus. Don’t underestimate your capacity to be pulled into the frenzy of the latest craze or the terror du jour. If there are only two possibilities, stay put even if it makes you supremely uncomfortable, until the third alternative arises.
