Sun enters Virgo 01:07 PM
Mercury sextile Jupiter
We are made of contradictions; a constant interplay of shadow and light. We are all the parts and we are the whole. We want to be helpful and make the world a better place and yet we seem to be riddled with thoughts and emotions about people and events long gone or yet to come. Along comes Virgo; sign of the harvest – abundant or not. Harvesting requires that we deal with particulars. We pick the stems and leaves off the fruit and make sure each piece of corn is free of the worm. If you ever bit down on a stone in your lentils or found a bug in our broccoli you know how important every little thing can be. Virgo reminds us of the importance of the particulars, both yours and mine. For today put your mind to understanding the immediate reality as well as the big picture.
Mars enters Scorpio
It’s a homecoming. Mars is the ancient ruler of Scorpio and can make good use of this sign. Over the next six weeks we may notice a strong sense of action prompted by gut level reactions. This is not necessarily the same as the experience of being pushed and pulled by the tides of emotion.
Astrologically ‘feeling’ is associated with water (Scorpio is a water sign) whereas ‘emotions’ are indicated by the Moon. Acting from feeling requires us to wait for the moment when we know the truth inside our guts. To act in harmony with Mars in Scorpio we are motivated by a deep need for change oriented toward letting go of the dead, the past or the rotten and a desire to make room for new growth and healing.
Don’t confuse this with progress. Mars in Scorpio calls us to a more organic kind of action. It is not about simply moving forward and accomplishing goals.
The problem with action that arises from feeling is that if the person who is acting is deluded and driven by power then the action, although true to the feeling, may not serve the purpose of new growth or healing.
I’m sure on the days Mars is activated (August 26th for example) we will see both kinds of actions happening in the world. In any case we can always be aware of our own motivations.
Sun opposite Neptune
An essential moment for the whole versus the sum of its parts. It’s the Virgo/Pisces polarity: We are made of millions of cells but we are one body. There is one ocean made of an uncountable number of waves. It seems so easy to understand but so hard to remember.
Mars trine Neptune
Mars’ first adventure in Scorpio. Conviction is strong. Delusion is hard to spot. But if you make that a priority you might just take a stand for profound truth.
Sun trine Pluto
Mercury sextile Saturn
A perfect day to empower yourself and those around you to be present; to make a study of the human condition – your human condition. To achieve such a state of awakened wholeness requires acceptance of both the body and the human ignorance. A lot to ask at the end of summer yet it’s a trine and a sextile so it should be at least approachable.
Full Moon: 09:58 AM EDT 08 degrees Pisces
Mercury enters Virgo
What is it to be human if not to endlessly wrest yourself free from the conditioning that keeps you identified with your past and anxious about your future while preventing you from being aware of the present? Full Moon shines her spotlight on these things.
Mercury loves Virgo more than meat loves salt.
There is a kind of intelligence available to us for the next 2 ½ weeks which has something to do with understanding how the parts fit together. All the parts not just some.
Mercury opposite Neptune
We dream of perfect oneness and immediately become aware of the 10,000 things that make up that perfect whole. A mother loves her baby and she loves each little finger and toe not to mention every little burp and each day’s precious sleeps. We are one and many at the same instant.
Venus square Saturn
Mars sextile Pluto
We are hungry for many things or maybe only one thing. Today there is no satisfaction without effort. If you are battling with a part of self or another, look for every opportunity to befriend the enemy. I may disdain the headache but that doesn’t mean I don’t love my head.
Mercury trine Pluto
All great accomplishments require concentration and focus. Call it obsession if you must. Stick with the idea that calls you and magic, invention, creation happens.
Mercury sextile Mars
Mental focus continues to open doors and build bridges.
Venus enters Leo
‘She changes everything she touches, everything She touches changes’.For a while She touches us with the fire of creative passion. Play with the kids, dance till you drop, let there be love.
Sun square Jupiter
The pinball machine is on ‘tilt’ and all the buttons are lighting up. Maybe it’s a grand slam. Wow. But/and it’s pinball. Not to dis a good game of pinball mind you. But don’t lose your perspective. Everything arises and passes. It’s all dust in the wind eventually: Which isn’t to say that it isn’t fascinating and curious to be sure.
Mercury square Jupiter
Yesterday’s theme continues. Gossip spreads like a newly hatched swarm of mosquitoes after a rain. An excellent day for a news fast.
Mercury conjunct the Sun
Sort out the true facts from the lies and embellishments. Common sense is our friend.
Venus trine Uranus
Adventure calls. It could be love, learning or sport. It could be anything that feels like adventure to you. Have some fun, why don’t you?
New Moon 10:10 PM EDT 23 degrees of Virgo
This is the back-to-school New Moon. What school are you returning to? It feels good to sharpen pencils, stock up on supplies and make lists. Today’s list is the list of lists. You could take it to the limit and consider/list all the categories in your life that need organization for the next year – until the next New Moon in Virgo.
Mercury enters Libra
If you have something to say that implies you would like someone to hear it. Negotiation, mediation, good listening is required for the next couple of weeks.
Pluto stationery direct
We could lay all the intensity of the last week and the next on Pluto (and then there Uranus squaring Pluto). Pluto is about power and inevitability. On account of this it is also about fear. It’s difficult to consider the inevitable on a personal level. And so we contract. A station offers us a moment of stillness regarding the planet in question. What do we see as inevitable and how do we feel about it? Where do we abandon our power? Where are we at the mercy of people or institutions (made up of people) who misuse power? All these things can be seen as fearful if we seize up in the face of them. Everything changes when we surrender. Surrender is not the same as capitulation. There is no white flag to wave. There is simply the power of resting in what is. From that place we empower ourselves.
Uranus square Pluto
This is the second exact square between these two planets since June 24th but not the last. Whether it’s on your doorstep or not the revolution has begun. The wheel turns and if someone says, 99% or 1% we all know what that means. It’s one world in a moment of radical shift.
Mercury opposite Uranus
Mercury square Pluto
Venus sextile Jupiter
It is an easy day for an argument. To some it seems clear that radical change is required; to others it seems that we must hold on to the old order because that will provide stability. There is nothing to hold on to and there is no way to know where we will end up. Space travel progresses as do inhumane conditions for many people on the planet. It doesn’t add up. And even as we hit the send button we all feel the paltry offer of signing a petition or making a donation. Fear not! We were born to these times. Creativity and humor offer great opportunity to relieve the feeling of impasse.
