A note for the readers of astrology insights to help with your use of this information:
Aspects from Sun, Mercury and Venus to other planets last only a day, generally speaking. Unless they are making stations (turning from retrograde to direct or the other way around).
Aspects from Mars are often felt up to a week before and usually peak and leave shortly after the exact day.
Aspects from Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto last a longer time. The exact days are possibly the strongest but you might notice them weeks before and after. There are generally three of them over the course of many months.
Sun enters Capricorn: 05:45 AM EST
We learn so much about life, when we look for teachings in the turning of the wheel. Winter solstice is fraught with a kind of desperate but glorious magic. Days so short and dark, as if a curtain has fallen on the day. We know it can’t, won’t continue to get darker after today. Today is the turning point. As if by a miracle the Sun will appear to stand still (Sol = Sun, stice = still) and then begin its steady climb upward, shedding more and more light on our days: Until, six months from now, when the opposite happens. The fact that this happens every year makes it more, not less miraculous. The fact that we and the heavens above are held in a rhythm, a dance of time, space, light and dark is quite amazing if you think about it.
So don’t let your fear of the shadow that has fallen over our world at the moment be the thing you get stuck to. At this time of year, in the Northern hemisphere we are meant to rest and regenerate but, like every other year, the light will rise again. There is and will be work to be done. If not by me, then you or her or him.
May your solstice be sweet, joyous and deeply restorative. If you would like a ritual to send you into the waxing of the light, you can join Silver River this very evening.
Saturn trine Uranus
Stability, wisdom that comes from experience, calculated risk and courage to be the change: the one you want to see in the world. Harness that energy and you’ll feel grounded in the simple wisdom of Mary Poppins: “Enough is as good as a feast”. (This is only the first time this aspect forms. It will be with us through much of 2017.)
Venus trine Jupiter
Venus sextile Uranus
Venus sextile Saturn
What is pleasure? How do you enjoy the day? Venus Jupiter loves excess; Venus Uranus loves people; Venus Saturn loves tradition. This a great day to celebrate exactly where you are. A perfect day to enjoy the simplest of pleasures when Venus is so happily in the astrological news.
Jupiter opposite Uranus
Mercury sextile Neptune
The hard part of fighting for justice in the post truth age of false news, is that anything goes. Not that there didn’t used to be propaganda but this seems different. Now it seems that the random misinformed opinions are justification for wild actions. Be scrupulous when handling truth. Humble in the face of its relativity. For the dreamers, let today be a day of passionate story telling; where images speak truth and fact is not the issue.
Sun sextile Mars
Every heart-felt action has the potential to do something good for someone. It hardly seems like enough but it’s a better than not.
Sun conjunct Mercury
Mercury sextile Mars
Rest the mind. Let today be a day of loving without cause and doing what has to get done just because you must. There are whispers on the wind suggesting what and how to build what needs to be built.
New Moon: 7 degrees Capricorn: 01:53 AM EST
Uranus stationery direct
The New Year isn’t for a few days but today is a new month. Just behind the start-up gate for 2017. May our intentions be for a better world (always, but especially now) and may we anchor ourselves in the world-as-it-is because this is where the power to build sturdier structures arises. Change often looks like chaos. But no matter how it appears to us we will make change happen using the shards of broken dreams to build new ones.
Sun sextile Neptune
For the dreamers who can actually see a world in a grain of sand and each sunrise as a blessing, it’s time for some big dreams. If you want a focus for your longings for a kinder, more compassionate world, you might want to participate in a free on-line Holographic Repatterning tomorrow: Wielding Wireless Brainpower: Setting Empowered Thoughts for 2017. I will be there!
Mars conjunct Neptune
Dreamers again. This time it’s about taking action that aims high. It’s New Year’s Day. A good time for intentions. Why not shoot the Moon?
Venus enter Pisces
Mercury sextile Venus
Hopefully we are not all deluded. Although clearly some of us are… We could all benefit from a good poem or romantic movie despite it being a work day. As one of our bards has said:
In out of the way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming.
Mercury enters Sagittarius (retrograde)
The Trickster Mind is back-peddling to reconsider assumptions. To embrace the Trickster’s wisdom we must be humble enough to be wrong. To see things from another perspective. No time like this time.
Sun conjunct Pluto
Once a year the Sun conjuncts Pluto. Once a year we are reminded that if we want to trans-form we need to get radical. Which means to aim for the root. Change at the root makes for a different tree.
Mercury stationery direct
Mercury goes direct pretty close to the Galactic Center where Saturn will station in the spring. This is a powerful point which I connect to the wisdom of the fierce feminine. It is the center of the Milky Way, our galactic mother. She means business. So pay attention and look for the fierce feminine thoughts in the cupboard of your mind.
Sun square Uranus
A different kind of transformation is activated today. Not the radical kind that digs to the root but the rabble rousing kind that says “enough already”. There is so much that people have already had enough of …
Mars sextile Pluto
Sun square Jupiter
When you can’t really believe what you are being told there are other ways to evaluate your world. Ways you might already be familiar with. Ways that draw on your hackles, your felt sense, your body more than your mind. Which isn’t to say we should all withdraw into our cocoons (although winter is like that) it’s more about what it means to sense truth. To know the difference between truth and lies. We are made to be able to do this.
Full Moon: 22 degrees Cancer 06:34 AM EST
Mercury (now direct) enters Capricorn
Venus conjunct Neptune
We have witnessed some extraordinary events in recent months. This full Moon as well as Mercury, asks us to take stock of how our ideals clash with our real-world needs and responsibilities even as we encounter the power structures that don’t want change. We are wise to attune to the ones who see deeper and father than seems possible even as we cultivate the ability to trust our felt sense of truth.
Mars square Saturn
Sun enters Aquarius
If it feels like you’re ‘driving with your brakes on’ get into it. It won’t last. Anything that has to be done today is worth putting extra time into. Be glad you’re not on the planning committee for the inauguration of the US president. Which is always on the first full day of Aquarius. I guess the founding fathers chose Aquarius so as to honor the ‘by the people, for the people, of the people’ ideal of the constitution. And maybe to make up for the fact that the election always takes place on a Mars day in the sign of Scorpio which is more of a ‘whatever it takes to get me what I want’ kind of feeling.
