Sun enters Aquarius 06:12 AM
Mercury enters Aquarius
Maybe the world began with a word. Maybe even all of creation began that way. In some way, we are that word. We are an idea in the mind of creation. Some of us are driven by a desire to know who and how we were uttered. And so we become scientists and religious leaders. Some of us want, more simply, to be one with our creator and so we become artists and mystics. And then there is the rest of the world who want only to live until they die in as much comfort, and with as little suffering as possible. This is the greatest challenge!
The entrance of Sun and Mercury in Aquarius encourages us to understand where we fall on the spectrum: To live into the idea of our lives: To consider what might really be required to know something worth knowing.

There is a nest of bright, shiny ideas quite within reach. Truly our experience of the world emanates from how we think about it: How we conceptualize it. Let there be light on all good ideas knowing full well that although an idea or an ideal can be a perfect model it is not the same once it is manifest. We cannot live in the blueprint. We must build the house.

We rise up from our sleep of ignorance with a great new idea. We are enthusiastic and confident that this idea could work! Why not?

The answer to yesterday’s question, “why not?” is found in the difference between thinking (in astrology this is the air element) and feeling (in astrology this is the water element). “I think therefore I am” is not actually the whole picture. No one wants feelings to run the world, but ignore them at great peril. Having said this, it is still true that a good idea is not to be thrown aside for a doubt or a fear. The trick is to bring the good idea and the feeling together and let the alchemy unfold.

Everything is possible when the heart leads the mind. Of course “everything” is not required or necessary for a happy life. When the mind leads the heart we delude ourselves into thinking rationally about love, a silly mistake (to be avoided at all costs).

Pandora’s box: They say that when she opened it, all the ills of the world flew out, and so did hope. Well, the box is open, and it’s pretty clear that hope without effort and focus is pretty worthless. Be the change, even if it requires a lot of work.

We are motivated by feelings that are universal and as common as drops of water in an ocean. Yet each of us can feel as if we are alone in our powerful desires. Actions speak louder than words especially when they are motivated by compassion and loving kindness. On the other hand actions motivated by unconscious urges can wreak havoc even as they teach us what really is going on deep inside. Look to the actors in your dreams to learn why you are doing what you do.
Pleasure is not always found in the body, sometimes it’s the mind that feels satisfied; like when you finish reading a really good book.

There is the personal unconscious which brings us many of our dreams and deep compulsions. There is also that great big sea of connection that we share called the collective unconscious http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collective_unconscious
Although no individual is responsible for this aspect of the unconscious we all participate in it and we all pay the price when it erupts negatively in the world. Still we have some say in whether or not we allow ourselves to get swept away.

Consider how your thoughts are influenced by the world around you: The music you listen to, the news you take in, the environment of your local reality. It’s a stunning plethora of images and information out of which you create the mosaic of your life. Celebrate diversity!

Listen to the good ideas of people around you. You don’t have to do anything about them or with them unless you want to but today is not the day to live inside the self referencing reality of your mind. Truly ideas are a shared commodity. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noosphere

A good idea can make your day, or at least the hour. It doesn’t have to come from your mind alone. Talk and listen, read and wonder.

Thoughts, feelings and actions combine to make an interesting day. Consider the notion of fierce compassion. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/sharon-salzberg/fierce-compassion_b_1775414.html

All that energetic mental activity originating from the heart is easily scattered by the restless, superficial aspects of mind. We want to change the channel, listen to one more comment, see and yet another cute video. It’s all good if you don’t live there and if it isn’t eating away at more important things.

In one corner we have the potential to foster an intention to let knowledge and wisdom soften our instinctive reaction to things: To bear or carry the water of feeling rather than to be drenched by it (as Aquarius is meant to do).
In the other corner we are goaded to action by gossip and misinformation which – for a brief moment – appears real.
An interesting dilemma.

The beauty of a concept, an ideal is challenged by the nuts and bolts of making it real given the undercurrent of energy flowing through the group required to do the work. It’s like an underground stream that needs to be either diverted or purified.

Look for and find the possibility of empowering yourself, your project or another person. What it takes is the ability to look the truth of the moment in the eye and work with it rather than trying to suppress or deny what you know to be there.

Where you sense power ask yourself if it’s power over, power within or power with. http://www.starhawk.org/writings/truth-dare.html
One creates misery the other two enables great acts which can benefit the good of all. Let your actions arise from a sense of empowerment not control.
Mars trine Saturn
The theme of empowerment continues. We are capable of so much more than we accomplish because we waste so much time wishing things were different and trying subtly or not so subtly to make them the way we want. When we do that we miss what is actually there. And what is actually there is the clay we are given in this life to do the things we do. Focus on what can be done and leave the rest.
